Greetings everyball and happy 6th CrossCode 1.0 Anniversary!!
Yes, on this day, 6 years ago, we had our release livestream at the Deck13 office, celebrating the release live on that very stream… And also releasing a lot of stress in the progress (which then immediately came back for the obligatory hotfixes… orz )!
Six years are a long time and we are both happy and very grateful for CrossCode finding the success and fans that it did. It is always a joy seeing people talk about their fun experiences with the game and the financial success allowed us to do continued updates, expanding the story with a DLC and of course starting work on our new project Alabaster Dawn.
Thank you from the entire team of Radical Fish Games!
CrossCode Orchestra Performance!
Shortly after the release of CrossCode, our composer Deniz Akbulut moved to Tokyo, Japan, where he is currently pursuing a degree in music composition at Kunitachi College of Music. He goes by the stage name Nagi Shirakumo there and co-founded a game music arrangement club called “GAME ECHO” with a fellow classmate. This club has gained official recognition from the college and has been actively organizing many concerts performing arrangements from various video games.
Last December, they held a concert where, among various pieces, Deniz was asked by his fellow club members and fans alike to arrange “Lea!” from CrossCode for orchestra. He published a recording of that performance on his YouTube channel today, so please take a listen!
September 20th marks CrossCode's 6th anniversary! I'm excited to premiere my orchestral arrangement of "Lea!"
9月20日はクロスコードの6周年記念です!去年演奏してもらった『レア!』のオケ編曲をYouTubeにプレミア公開します。お楽しみに!#CrossCodeAnniversaryhttps://t.co/ufNyQraSbk

Deniz also posted a clean version of the gorgeous CrossCode OST cover artwork!
Shortly before CrossCode's release, I commissioned the incredibly talented anime artist Mari Motohashi (Nemuri) for the soundtrack cover artwork. It's one of my favorite pieces, and I wanted to share it without the logos. #CrossCode #CrossCodeAnniversary pic.twitter.com/723uUNAnq8

We visited Gamescom!
We once again attended Gamescom this year and showcased an up-to-date showcase build of Project Terra Alabaster Dawn!
Interest in playing the demo was big and there were almost consistently new players wanting to give it a try and we also got very positive feedback to what was already playable, which made us very happy!
Also, lots of good food again!
#gamescom2024 was a blast!💙🐟
Thank you everyone who came by and played #AlabasterDawn! We met so many amazing, talented and interesting people, that's one of the main reasons we go there in the first place! pic.twitter.com/racr140WXm— RadicalFishGames (@RadicalFishGame) August 27, 2024
Amazingly, as seen on the last pic, there was even a sudden Juno cosplayer visiting us! She mentioned that she had to quickly improvise and throw the outfit together after learning of our booth but she still did a very good job already, didn’t she? We are very excited how good the planned and refined version might look one day! You can find her socials here:

Of course, it couldn’t all just be fun and games, because we also had some serious business meetings with various companies that could potentially publish our game. Though we obviously don’t want to give details on the results, we can mention that we had great talks and received quite a few interesting offers to consider.
Recent Alabaster Dawn Progress
Though development has slowed down a bit due to Gamescom and its typical aftermath (hello post-con sickness!) we still made progress since the most recent post!
As usual we can’t show you everything, but here’s a few highlights!
Here's a little showcase of our dash charge attacks in #AlabasterDawn. By pressing dash with no direction and attacking after, you can unleash a powerful attack!#gamedev #pixelart pic.twitter.com/U126ruY80z
— Teflora (@teflorator) September 20, 2024
Those attacks shown are currently called “Backdash Attacks” because you do a little backstep and then attack after a short moment of charging and aiming. They are generally meant to quickly and precisely attack over a wider range.
Secondly, visiting a more polished dungeon with… Elevators!
It's time for a little #AlabasterDawn update! We didn't show much from the dungeons. So here's a bit more! Specifically elevators, that we just recently finished implementing (except for sounds). #gamedev #pixelart pic.twitter.com/1TVYN201IE

A simple concept of transporting people to higher and lower floors… But still full of technical pitfalls and aspects to polish. However, now it should be done!
Going into a new video, we are showing off some of the new enemies you will find and fight in the game.
Our figure and animation system in #AlabasterDawn has become very versatile! Have a look at some enemies we recently implemented. Shoutout to @jaanimated for the amazing animations! #gamedev #pixelart pic.twitter.com/LcqWukjsO7

A pretty distinct bunch, aren’t they? Thankfully our animation system and editor help with properly bringing beings of various shapes and sizes to life!
Outside of the things shown, there is also work done on UI-polish, additional fights and of course the next area! Hopefully we can show you more in another post that will still be happening this year.
And that’s it for this very special day.
Reminder to keep track of our social media if you want to see more regular updates, shoutouts to fan content and other random things we might say.
